Goals

Transparency. Respect. Representation.

Like many of you, I value an open and transparent government. I believe this means making governmental decisions clear and accessible to keep decision-makers accountable. As a member of the Christiansburg Town Council since 2022, I have served our community, Town employees, and businesses by knowing when to lead, when to support, and when to oppose decisions for the Town. I believe it is my duty to follow our Town’s Charter and represent my fellow community members’ voices – including those that are not always the loudest. I ask smart questions, pursue compromise, and take action to improve citizen issues.

Initiatives

Public Safety. I support the strategic growth of our law enforcement, fire, and rescue services and encourage emergency preparedness.

As a career emergency manager, personal and organizational preparedness is deeply important to me. I support our law enforcement, fire, and rescue services and believe they are critical elements of maintaining a safe and healthy Town. Meeting the needs of public safety serves us all. I remain committed to expanding our emergency services in areas of rapid growth and high density in the Town and preparing Council and staff to lead well in times of crisis.

Infrastructure improvements. I support efforts to improve and replace critical infrastructure and make stormwater improvements.

Our water and wastewater infrastructure is aging and is a source of frustration and hazard when it fails, both for the people that it affects and the men and women at Public Works who must respond. I support efforts to improve and replace the critical infrastructure that all citizens rely on every single day. I also support improvements that manage stormwater runoff and avoid costly and dangerous flooding and damages.

Economic development. I support small businesses in their endeavors to make Christiansburg their home, including grants and workshops that support and equip business owners.

I support programs such as Launch Christiansburg and the Facade Grant Program, which empower and equip business owners in Christiansburg to develop, grow, and improve. I support efforts to create a small business incubator in downtown Christiansburg, strengthen our Farmers Market traffic, and create information that connects our visitors to the many special shops and restaurants we have to offer. I support a “Made in Christiansburg” focus on economic development and impacting policies in ways that benefit small businesses.

Community amenities and events. I support special events and the creative use of Town amenities that make Christiansburg a desirable place to live, work, and visit.

I love the amenities that Christiansburg has to offer. Our parks, special events, Huckleberry Trail access, and many recreational services make Christiansburg an attractive place to be. I support these events and amenities that make our Town unique. I believe they support our economy while maintaining our small-town, inviting atmosphere. I will always welcome ideas that support our economy and grow our sense of community, fulfillment, and belonging.

I’m running for Christiansburg Town Council because I believe in transparency, respect, and accessible and defendable decision making that represents the majority interest.
